Cocteau Twins Have Their Own Sound -and Words

Because they`ve played only a handful of dates in the U.S. during their 10-year history, the Cocteau Twins are an enigma worthy of their music.
Monday night, in their first appearance in Chicago, perhaps some of that mystery will unravel when the Twins, actually a trio consisting of singer Elizabeth Fraser and multi-instrumentalists Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie, take the stage of the Riviera. THE REST

The biggest gripe about the Cocteau Twins is that if you`ve heard one of their albums, or even one of their songs, you`ve heard them all.
But that assertion misses the point entirely. The Twins-who are in fact a trio composed of singer Elizabeth Fraser, bassist Simon Raymonde and guitarist Robin Guthrie-never have been much interested in writing pop songs. Their music is more like an aura, their lyrics nonsense, their art a seduction. READ all
